He may be bored. Try giving him something interesting to eat. Corn on the cob would be good, also brocolli, carrots, fruits, etc. Toys can also help.

You can purchase non tip cups too. They bolt to the sides of the cage.
I do agree that he is bored. Does he have toys? Does he know how to play with them? Birds are not born knowing how to play with their toys, we have to teach them.
Try for some good toys. Go for ones to chew up, forage in, and make noise with.

Unfortunately it’s just playing. You can solve the problem by buying the kind of dishes that lock down quick loc dishes. You set them in a groove and turn them a quarter turn and it locks them down tight. You can also try a water bottle. Still give the bird a water dish but with the bottle it will always have a clean water supply. Try and for bird supplies they are both great! Good luck and try to be patient, we breed sun’s so I know the behavior well, they are just very playful. Give it LOTS of foot and hanging toys. Keep it real busy. It will love you for it.

Oooh. That’s a fun game, isn’t it?
We got Stella- our Sun Conure a bowl that has a ‘hood’ - it is all ceramic, and it screws to the side of the cage, because that way she can’t tip it, and she also doesn’t make as much of a mess that way.
Buy Two- one for water, one for food. We actually have three because we offer fresh fruit and veggies and leftovers in the third bowl. That one we don’t clamp down, as it just fits into the holder in the big cage.
Just get bowls he can’t tip over. Go to the pet store pronto! Also, you can hang an apple from a plastic chain- they sell them in the pet shop, so your bird can entertain himself with that. Get more toys, or make some toys.
Toilet paper rolls, corn cobs, paper cups, bells, rope tied in knots, with pieces of fabric tied into it- you can make her lots of fun things to play with all day, once you ‘tie down’ her food - and she will be more occupied.
Birds are like dogs, they love toys but get bored of the same toys over and over. So rotate the toys in and out of his cage and he will think they are new toys each time. I live in NJ, and our store, Paterson Bird Store carries little ‘parts’ that you can recycle your toys with. Little wicker balls, bells, chinese finger prisons, etc., and leather string, so you can add things to the hanging toys.
Good luck with your conure!

Hey,
Dont worry its not through lack of toys,
They see it as a game, and the noise also makes them do it too, and the fact that you go to the cage to sort it out, it amuses them.
But ofcourse, leaving them without food or water is terrible, exp if it gets done on a day where you are out for a few hours,
As somone has already sugested, I Would consider getting the quick-lock-crock dishs, or the crock lock They cannot tips these over at all,
I Have personally tried the quick-lock-crock ones on my cockatoo who was doing what yours is doing now, and some how he managed to snap the plastic under the dish, so now he has the crock lock ones, which hes had for over 2 years, They are great, no more dishs/food/water on the floor,
I’d consider getting two, They are well worth the money.
Other than that theres nothing you can do, Alot of people on other sites say that they have tried putting the food and water on floor of cage, this isnt advisable as they end up pooping in it.
Anyway, have a browse on net for locking parrot dishs or even ebay should have them. This link shows you what you are looking for :
Good luck

in our birds avairy we have dishes that attach to the sides of the cage with screws. the bowls fit into a slot in these holders and twist to secure them. then the bird cannot move the dish. You can find these in most pet stores and it will save you a lot of hassles.
check them out…. Even with these bowls though you should still change the water daily and blow out any seed husks and replace the seed regularly.

LOL We can tell who owns who here! Welcome to the fun world of birds! Yes, get the dishes that lock on. Also, get foraging treat dishes, move the toys around and change them out frequently. This helps keep them occupied as well as prevents phobias from setting in. This is very important. The shiskabob food holders are fantastic! This allows for easily giving them fresh fruits and veggies in a fun and playful fashion. Do you let your bird out for 1 on 1 play time with you daily? It could be that your bird is requesting more personal attention from you.
Don’t be frustrated, feel priveledged! It sounds as though you are loved by this feathered friend and he wants to spend time with you! However, do not give ANY reaction when your bird does this as it only teaches him that by acting out, he’ll get what he wants.
